What a wonderful day yesterday to be walking the hills in the Yorkshire Dales. Living in West Burton one of my favourite walks, hopefully before breakfast and before starting the day, is to walk into Walden. Follow the road from West Burton in the direction of Walden, follow Walden South at the top the short steep hill, down the single track road until you come to a bridge and immediately after the bridge turn left through a gate and walk along the beck side. Continue through fields and stiles, past the blue foot bridge, eventually turning down left after crossing a tiny stream towards the Cauldron Falls at West Burton and back onto the village green. Maybe takes about three quarters of an hour depending how long you take gazing at the scenery and watching the wild life as you make your way round. As the seasons go along the land is constantly changing, lambs in the spring, hay meadows come summer, autumn the colours can be just stunning and winter has it's own charm. It's not a walk to get lost on, the path is well worn, but to be on the safe side check your route before setting off. Happy walking!
