The latest news in the glorious Yorkshire Dales is the recently opened new ice parlour! Adrian and Gill Harrison are selling their own Wensleydale Ice Cream made on the farm in nearby Thornton Rust. We thought we’d give it a go, we had our grandson George staying for the weekend and thought he might appreciate going and having a look too! He's quite the connoisseur being a frequent visitor to Brymor Ice Cream Parlour near Masham. The parlour is not far from us in West Burton situated just off the A684 in between Aysgarth and Bainbridge in Wensleydale.
What a warm welcome we had, not only by the Harrison’s and staff but the place was so warm too! Large wood burning stove doing its stuff and very pleasant surroundings. The barn has been recently converted and what a lovely space, plenty of room and upstairs where we sat was most inviting. So, it was what to have, loads and loads of different flavours of ice cream to choose from, one scoop, two scoops or three scoops! Also on the menu, fresh out of the oven, homemade apple crumble with ice cream along with various home made cakes etc. Geoff had the apple crumble, he can’t resist and very much enjoyed it. George and I had ice cream, delish of course. Our tea and coffee was excellent too. It was quite an inclement day but there was a steady trickle of people coming in, the people on the table next to us had the waffles and WOW what a portion and we were told that they were the small ones!
We will certainly be going again, with the whole family or just Geoff and I, who cares? Don’t forget to put it on your list of things to do whilst you’re here in the dales but do check on the Hard Banks Ice Cream Parlour and Coffee Shop for opening times.
