As always there are various exhibitions to enjoy during your stay in the glorious Yorkshire Dales and I’ve noted just a few to wet your appetite!
Ripon Museums have Rogues and Vagabonds until 7 December 2019. Vagrants, tramps, rogues and vagabonds, beggars: the 'houseless poor' have regularly been the target of government legislation and police attention. Ripon Museum's current exhibition explores vagrancy during the Victorian period within the workhouse, prison and court systems, and examines the realities of homelessness today. There are three museums to wander round and together they tell a sorry and interwoven story of Law and Order in times past, very interesting. I remember walking round when I was a little girl and being terrified of the policeman (stuffed!) who was sat in his office, I seem to think he was still there when we went last year with the grand children.
Always lots going on at The Station in Richmond for example at the moment until 1 September there is Victor Bellas Carter and Suzanne Jewellery which promises to be an uplifting experience, displaying their stunning, unique and very original work. Whilst in Richmond you must visit the Green Howards Museum, also take a tour around the Georgian Theatre, learn about its varied history and see behind the scenes.
At the Leyburn Arts and Community Centre national award-winning local artist John Hunter, presents a range of his works. Originals, prints and cards will be on display and for sale. Only until 8 August though. Have a look in at The Garden Rooms, Tennants in Leyburn, Art in the Café by Lynn Ward until 1 September 2019 and until the 3 September the British Life Photography Awards Exhibition.
