Thorton Rust

Thornton Rust is a sleepy, picturesque village formed around two straggling greens with a charming diversity of houses typical of the Yorkshire Dales.

The village sits at the rocky edge of an escarpment running along the lower slopes of Addlebrough, one of the most prominent and recognisable skyline features in mid-Wensleydale and because of its lofty position gives splendid views over the upper and mid-dale.

There are several footpaths centring on the village that offer attractive walks towards the river Ure and the high fells behind.
