Watchmakers Cottage, HawesJust off the west end of the market place stands Watchmakers Cottage, a traditional stone built cottage and one of the oldest dwellings in Hawes. The cottage is in a very convenient position for the town with its cafes, pubs and restaurants, handy for the Wensleydale Creamery visitor centre and the restored Gayle Mill and has wonderful walks from the doorstep being only minutes away from the surrounding countryside. Entry is to a cosy lounge with open fire surrounded by a stone fireplace with pine mantle, original flagged floor and beamed ceiling. Through the lounge is a dining room, providing ample room for family meals, with beamed ceiling and original stone shelving . Down three steps from the dining room are a well equipped kitchen and an adjacent utility room which leads outside to the lawn and garden at the rear. Enclosed stone stairs rise from the lounge to a landing serving a double bedroom, a bedroom with bunk beds and down three steps to a bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and toilet. A homely cottage with true tradition maintained in many original features such as open beamed ceilings, flagged floors, stone stairs, pine panel doors. A real essence of past times with modern comforts sympathetically furnished in warm pine and lightened by background shades of white. An intriguing upper dales abode situated in a small but lively market town which provides a high standard of accommodation.
