Eastburn Cottage, NewbigginOriginally a 17th century cottage with stone mullion windows that has since been enlarged with modern additions but with similar style and tradition. A path leads by the side of the house to give access through a large hallway which also serves as a utility room with laundering and cloakroom facilities. Through the hallway is a well equipped kitchen with dining area that includes a Rayburn stove, as well as the normal cooking facilities, which leads to the cosy main lounge with beamed ceiling and stone fireplace containing woodburning stove. This lounge in turn leads to a smaller lounge with a sofa and separate shower room, with washbasin and toilet, providing facilities for the partially disabled. A pine stairway rises from the kitchen to a landing serving three bedrooms and pine panelled bathroom with bath, washbasin and toilet. The largest of the three bedrooms has a double bed and en-suite with shower, washbasin and toilet the second having twin beds and the third small bedroom with a single bed. There are pleasant views across the dale and towards the fellsides from the bedrooms particularly to the rear of the cottage. To the side of the entrance path is a stone flagged patio area and a small lawned garden with a further small railed patio garden to the front of the cottage. The original 17th century mullions, beams and joists enhanced by mellow pine fitments and quality furnishing provide cosy accommodation to very high standard.
